A Lasting Impression on aMuse'um
Just a few years ago in 2017, aMuse'um's Board of Directors welcomed a new Executive Director. In four and a half years, with the support of the community, Maeghan Wall and the board have made significant strides for aMuse'um.
If you haven't had the pleasure of meeting Maeghan, she is married to Josh and has three children Lilly, Brewer and Benton. A Columbia resident for more than 20 years, she has been instrumental in the following successes:
Implemented outreach programs and increased daily visitors by an average of 76%
Renovated existing exhibits and installed new exhibits: Paint Wall, Tinkering Station, Asian Music Exhibit, Kinetic Energy Ball Wall, Dentistry Exhibit, Bee Exhibit, Imagination Playground Blocks and branded food for the Grocery Store
Applied for and received funding for almost 2,000 STEAM Kits. These were distributed to local Title One schools and our local Boys & Girls Club to help offset learning loss during Covid-19 school closures
Created quality camps, clubs and floor activities focused on science, art and outdoor education for children ages 3-12.
Implemented monthly membership option
Updated website, brand, mission & vision
Transformed the window and front of the museum into a retail space and eventually hired a Retail Specialist, given the increased in-person and online sales
Permanently extended hours making the museum more accessible
New entrance doors, showcasing the museum and its rebranding
Almost 8,000 kids participated in science, art, STEM & literacy activities with the museum
Hosted our first Mother & Son Dance, Golf Tournament, Chamber Coffee and A Very Maury Christmas Preview Party
Launched a new guest policy
Initiated Access Memberships allowing the museum to be more accessible to the community
Joined the Spring Hill Chamber and presented aMuse'um at their nonprofit highlight
A message from Maeghan:
"I have enjoyed my time at the museum immensely. With a dedicated, hard-working, and talented Board of Directors, we have seen a lot of growth over the last four and half years and it has been a privilege to be a part of it. The community's support of the museum is nothing short of awe-inspiring. Thank you for being friends and supporters of the museum. aMuse’um is a special place and Columbia is lucky to have such a great space whose joyful mission is to spark unbridled learning for young children from all backgrounds through play."
While it is bittersweet to say goodbye to Maeghan, we are wishing her the best in her new endeavor with Save the Children. If you know anyone that might be a good fit for aMuse'um's leadership, please spread the word.
Whether you have visited aMuse'um once, or come weekly we consider you and your families the most important part of the museum. Without you this growth would not have been possible. Thank you for supporting us and we look forward to the continued impact inside our museum walls and in our community. Stay tuned for details on our annual events like the Golf Tournament, Mother Son Dance and Food Truck Festival, as well as our upcoming Superhero and Princess parties.
