aMuse'um's 5th Annual Ice Cream Crankin Doubles in Size and Scope

The 5th annual Ice Cream Crankin just keeps getting bigger and better, if Sunday afternoon's attendance is an indication. People of all ages came out for the popular event, from families with children and babies to couples, and even a handful of seniors.

Sponsored by the Columbia Baskin Robbins and put on by aMuse'um, Columbia Children's Museum, this year's event nearly doubled in size and scope, with 14 ice cream contestants participating in the ice cream competition and more than 400 people attending.

In addition to the ice cream competition, this year's late afternoon event featured bluegrass band the Grasskickers and a kid zone that included a coloring competition, character artist, face painter and balloon artist from Parker's Original Entertainment. Luxton Bruhn, Raleigh Blanks and Scarlett Doe won the coloring contest.

Children were also able to exercise their building skills with giant foam building blocks, situated near the Trek bike tent and the children's activity pavilion.

The event also featured a raffle for two Trek bicycles, which were won by two very happy children: John Collins Gillepsie and Vivi Bee Cardwell. Downtown businesses Caledonian Financial and Trek donated the winning bicycles.

The grand winner of the 2018 ice cream competition was Westbury House, whose delicious concoction "Marshmallow Fudge" received the most votes by spoon to take the prize! Stacey Willis won the ice cream making machine, which was donated by Northside Medical Professionals.
